01. Applied Kinesiology

Within The Change Well I strive to enable the unlocking of oneself and one's true potential in order that one may flourish

"Kinesiology is a communication tool that enables a person to assess and upgrade their performance in all areas of their life. Kinesiology is the science of energy balancing and is grounded in the study of anatomy and physiology. Kinesiology uses muscles as monitors of stress and imbalance within the body. Enabling people to detect and correct various imbalances that may relate to stress, nutrition, learning problems, minor injuries and other issues they meet in their daily life." (ICPKP Definition)

Kinesiology is the most holistic of all the natural therapies and, like traditional Maori medicine, recognises the importance of body, mind and spirit in health and healing.

Kinesiology enables people to detect and correct imbalances that relate to stress, nutrition, learning problems, minor injuries, and other issues they meet in their daily life. A non-invasive method which is grounded in the study of anatomy and physiology and uses muscles as monitors of stress and imbalance within the body.

A fundamental premise of kinesiology is that the body has innate healing energy and is always doing its best to care for itself, but sometimes needs to be helped into a better position to achieve this care.

Kinesiology recognises the flows of energy within the body not only relate to the muscles but to every tissue and organ that make the body a living, feeling being. These energy flows can be evaluated by testing the function of the muscles, which in turn reflect the body’s overall state of structural, chemical, or emotional balance. In this way Kinesiology taps into energies that the more conventional modalities overlook.

Kinesiology looks beyond symptoms and does not treat named diseases nor does it diagnose them. The main concern is the imbalances in the body’s energy. In this respect, kinesiology has close links with the acupuncture concept of energy flow.

Where, as the result of injury, emotional trauma, nutritional or other unresolved stress the energy flow is interrupted and the whole body is affected. The exact nature of blockage in the energy flow can be more closely identified by muscle testing. Acupressure massage, light touch and other simple correction skills are used to restore muscle balance, which has a flow-on effect into total body energy.

Kinesiology is not limited to dealing with ailments. Energy balancing brings a person closer to achieving any goal of their choice - in sport, relationships, learning or coping with life generally.

Kinesiology and Other Therapies

Kinesiology has a number of elements in common with other established natural and medical therapies, in some cases sharing a common ancestry. These include Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Acupuncture.

TRE® is a simple and quick set of movements that turn on our body’s natural rebalancing process – providing immediate relaxation. By releasing everything from everyday stress to deeply held physical tension and trauma, TRE® frees us up to meet life’s challenges with greater skill and ease.  Our bodies do the work; we get relief without needing to process or retell our story.

TRE® helps to release stress or tension as a result of difficult life circumstances, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences. TRE® is a set of six simple exercises that helps us to release tension in the muscles, which in turn relaxes the anxiety of our minds, by evoking a muscular shaking process in the body. The exercises elicit this shaking in a controlled and sustained manner. When evoked in this way, this shaking, also called unclassified therapeutic tremors, begins to release deep chronic muscular tension held within the body. They come from the centre of gravity of the body, which is protected by the psoas muscle. When shaking is evoked at this powerful centre of the body, it reverberates throughout the entire body travelling along the spine, releasing deep chronic tension from the sacrum to the cranium. When tension is released anywhere in the body, the brain registers a reduction in pain signals and produces new hormones of relaxation and comfort.
A new method to manage stress, which works on many levels:

  1. Neurologically: helps to restore the capacity of the brain to operate from higher cortical functions - improving concentration & focus and helps to restore our autonomic nervous system - leaving us feeling calmer, more peaceful, balanced and connected
  2. Anatomically: helps to relax muscles and fascia improving posture and mobility
  3. Biochemically: helps to rebalance the body’s chemistry thereby restoring homeostasis

TRE® can be done individually or in groups in one hour sessions.

03. Yoga

Yoga focus on stimulating and regulating the human energy that is the very essence of being and consciousness.

Yoga allows us to work on all aspects of our self. Sound, breath and their rhythms are the crucial link in the mind-brain behaviour chain. Through movement, breath control and inner sound your mind becomes focused and balanced.

I am a certified teacher of both Kundalini and Hatha yoga.

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan (the father of humanology) is the applied science for fulfilment of human potential in body, mind and spirit.

Hatha Yoga commonly describes the practice of asana (postures). Hatha yoga works to harmonise and purify  the body systems whilst placing focus on the mind.

I teach individual and group classes. Contact me for more information.

04. General Ailments

Yoga focus on stimulating and regulating the human energy that is the very essence of being and consciousness.
All of the above modalities are also utilised to assist with the reduction of pain, improvement of concentration, reducing anger outbursts and minimising an inability to sit still.
